At Associated Family Physicians, compassionate care starts with the people behind it. With over 40 years of experience delivering patient-centered, senior-focused medical care, we’ve recently expanded our reach to serve more individuals and families across Bradenton and Boca Raton.
Our team includes board-certified physicians, advanced practice providers, and licensed mental health professionals, all unified by a shared mission: to treat every patient with the dignity, respect, and attention they deserve.

Dr. Owen A. Barruw
M.D., F.A.C.P
Board Certified in Internal Medicine since 1996 Fellow of the American College of Physicians Dr. Owen A. Barruw earned his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Montserrat, British West Indies, graduating in 1983. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from 1991 to 1994. Dr. Barruw brings decades of experience and dedication to delivering exceptional internal medicine care.
Dr. Radhika P. Phadke M.D, PhD
Board Certified in Endocrinology since 2011. Dr. Radhika Phadke graduated from B.J. Medical College at the University of Pune, India, in 2002. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency in 2009 and a fellowship in Endocrinology in 2011, both at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She specializes in the management of complex endocrine disorders.
Dr. Michelle Wilson MD
Board Certified in Family Medicine since 2024. Dr. Michelle Wilson received her medical degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton in 2021. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital program in Albany, Georgia, from 2021 to 2024. Dr. Wilson focuses on comprehensive, patient-centered primary care.
Dr. Nasreen Ghazi MD
Dr. Nasreen Ghazi graduated from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., in 2009. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania’s Family Medicine and Community Health Residency Program from 2009 to 2012. Dr. Ghazi is committed to providing holistic, family-focused care.
Samantha L. Burstell DNP, FNP-BC
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner since 2017. Dr. Samantha Burstell holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Florida Atlantic University, where she trained as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Board certified since 2017, she is experienced in delivering primary care with a focus on preventive health and chronic disease management.

Dr. Steve Newman M.D.
Dr. Steve Newman is a veteran Florida physician with over four decades of experience in Emergency Medicine. He earned his M.D. from Chicago Medical School, completed an Internal Medicine internship at Cook County Hospital, and trained in Emergency Medicine at Kern Medical Center. A former Medical Director of Sarasota County EMS, Dr. Newman served on the faculty at Florida State University College of Medicine and held leadership roles at Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System. He champions value-based, patient-centered care and brings a deep understanding of complex clinical needs.
Dr. Jean – Joseph G. Rendel DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC
Dr. Jean Rendel holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Florida Atlantic University and a post-graduate degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health from Wilkes University. Recognized with multiple FAU Scholar Awards, Dr. Rendel is both a Family and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He combines clinical research with compassionate, person-centered care focused on prevention, wellness, and long-term patient satisfaction.
Mia Bustamante PA-C
Mia Bustamante holds a Master’s in Physician Assistant Science from Gannon University and a Master’s in Applied Developmental Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She trained with Drs. Matt and Doris Nessetti and now practices at Associated Family Physicians. A recognized scholar and community advocate, Mia is passionate about building strong, lasting relationships with her patients. Outside the clinic, she enjoys motherhood, outdoor activities, and all things Pittsburgh.
